Development Officer
The Urban League of Portland is seeking a development Officer to be responsible for all aspects of the development and communications program including identifying new sources of funding, coordinating all major fundraising events, coordinating the corporate and individual membership campaigns, maintaining and enhancing membership database, overseeing agency marketing and media outreach efforts, and developing agency publications.
The Development Officer will develop, lead and direct the activity of the Urban League’s fundraising program to obtain financial support, as well as contributing to maximum public, employee and staff understanding and support of the organization’s key objectives. The Development Officer will work closely with the Board of Directors as staff liaison to the Development/Public Relations Committee of the Board as well as assist them in identifying, researching and cultivating potential new donors. In addition, responsibilities will include oversight, update and online strategy for the organizations website and interactive marketing efforts. The successful candidate will perform all duties in a manner which promotes a team concept and consistency within the mission and financial plans of the Urban League. The position reports to the President / CEO.
Qualifications
The Development Director will possess excellent organizational skills as well as have excellent written and oral communications skills. An ability to communicate effectively and project a professional image, strong presentation and public speaking skills, and ability to excel in high pressured environments will be critical. In addition, the position requires strong computer skills, including the use of Microsoft Office products, he fundraising database solution, The Raiser’s Edge as well as skill in internet research.
The position requires at least three years experience in fund development, fundraising or related corporate experience. A Bachelor’s degree in a related field required, advance degrees a significant plus. Salary commensurate with experience.

Healthy Kids Outreach Coordinator and Client Advocate
Advocacy and Civic Engagement Department
Healthy Kids is expanding Oregon's child health coverage options for working families. The Urban League’s Healthy Kids program will reach out to African Americans in North and NE Portland to increase awareness about the availability and eligibility for enrollment in the Oregon Health Plan. The Healthy Kids Outreach Coordinator and Client Advocate will help design and implement the Urban League’s outreach and enrollment program. S/he will work closely with the Healthy Kids Case Managers to recruit, enroll, track progress and provide advice and support to families’ entry into the Oregon Health Plan.
The Healthy Kids Outreach Coordinator and Client Advocate works with the staff in the Urban League’s Advocacy and Civic Engagement department to fulfill the contractual goals of an enrollment program specifically targeting the African American community. S/he will works with community partners to identify underserved eligible families, help them navigate the healthcare system, negotiate with service providers, school health providers and other public service agencies to secure and expand OHP enrollment.
Responsibilities include: the development and distribution of outreach materials; establishment of off-site recruitment centers; establishing partnerships with schools, after-school programs, community clinics, local organizations and faith-based communities. S/he will be responsible for accurate entry of data into the agency database in a timely manner and for meeting all reporting requirements outlined in the program contract. The Client Advocate works collaboratively and communicates effectively with other community partners on behalf of the Urban League Healthy Kids enrollment program.
Previous professional or volunteer experience working in community/health services. A Bachelor’s degree (B.A.) from a four-year college or university or at least 3-5 years of experience in the field. Relies on extensive experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals. A wide degree of creativity and latitude is expected.
A car may be required to perform the duties of this post. Some evening or weekend work may be required.

Executive Assistant
The Urban League of Portland is seeking an Executive Assistant to provide administrative and secretarial support to the organization’s President and CEO.
The successful candidate must have excellent written, communications, human relations scheduling and time management skills. Comprehensive knowledge of and ability to apply office administration practices and techniques is a must. Strong computer skills (MS Office Suite and Internet) are also required. The Executive Assistant must be team-oriented and have a strong belief in the mission of the Urban League. Minimum requirements: 5 years of experience in diversified secretarial assignment or equivalent course of study.
