Volunteers Needed For Summer Youth Programs

The Urban League of Portland would like to invite you to serve as a camp counselor or speak at one of our Summer Youth Employment Programs. We are seeking a few excellent volunteers to support the programs and help make them a success. The Urban League of Portland’s Summer Youth Programs are designed to equip youth to meet workforce demands and motivate students to get good grades, to stay in school, and to pursue post secondary education and professional careers.

All of the Youth Employment Program’s volunteer positions require a background check.

 

Summer Youth Employment Programs’ Volunteer Opportunities:

  • Camp Counselor – Middle School Camp – Salem, OR – August 18th-23rd- Application

This is a great opportunity to gain experience, develop leadership skills, enjoy the outdoors, and give back to the community. Camp counselors will be eligible for a stipend of $250. You can find more information here.

  • Camp Inspirational Speaker – Middle School Summer Camp – Salem, OR – Application – Volunteer Opportunity, non-compensated

This year we would like you to also consider conducting a culturally inspiring presentation to enhance African American middle school student’s self-esteem, self-worth, and cultural pride at the 4-H camp grounds in Salem. Presentations are 30 minutes long and take place between 7pm to 9pm. Depending on availability overnight camp environment accommodations may be provided upon advance request. Days to present or speak: any day from August 20th to August 22nd, from 7pm -9pm. You can find a flyer with information about speaking here.

The Middle School Camp will take place at the Oregon 4-H Conference and Education Center in Salem, OR. 5390 4-H Road, NW, Salem, Oregon 97304. Directions here.
