Volunteers Needed For Summer Youth Programs
The Urban League of Portland would like to invite you to serve as a camp counselor or speak at one of our Summer Youth Employment Programs. We are seeking a few excellent volunteers to support the programs and help make them a success. The Urban League of Portland’s Summer Youth Programs are designed to equip youth to meet workforce demands and motivate students to get good grades, to stay in school, and to continue to a post secondary education and professional careers.
All of the Youth Employment Program’s volunteer positions require a background check.
Summer Youth Employment Programs’ Volunteer Opportunities:
- Camp Counselor – Middle School Camp – Salem, OR – August 18th-23rd- Application
This is a great opportunity to gain experience, develop leadership skills, enjoy the outdoors, and give back to the community. Camp counselors will be eligible for a stipend of $250.
- Speaker – Portland, OR – Application
We are looking for speakers to give culturally inspiring presentations to enhance African American youths’ self-esteem, self-worth, and cultural pride. Days to present or speak: there are openings for speakers from July 21st to July 30th, from 10am-2pm.
- Speaker – Middle School Summer Camp – Salem, OR – Application
This year we would like you to also consider conducting a culturally inspiring presentation to enhance African American middle school student’s self-esteem, self-worth, and cultural pride at the 4-H grounds in Salem. Presentations are 30 minutes long and take place between 7pm to 9pm. Depending on availability overnight camp environment accommodations may be provided upon advance request. Days to present or speak: any day from August 20th to August 22nd, from 7pm -9pm.
The Middle School Camp will take place at the Oregon 4-H Conference and Education Center in Salem, OR. 5390 4-H Road, NW, Salem, Oregon 97304. Directions here.
