The wait is over. The City of Portland will hold a hearing and vote on a Ban the Box Ordinance in just over one week. When it passes, thousands of people with previous arrest and conviction histories will have a Fair Chance to secure a job that will enable them to support their families and communities.
We are asking our supporting organizations and individuals to help us pass this Ordinance.

Time is short. We have the opportunity NOW to add Portland to the growing list of cities and states that have passed legislation to Ban the Box – providing a Fair Chance for All to jobs and economic security. We can pass this in the City of Portland and then onwards to passage in the State Legislature.
New Legislative Update for State Fair Chance for All – Ban the Box Bill HB3025:
A Legislative hearing is due to be scheduled before the House Business and Labor Committee in March (date to be confirmed). If you are able to attend and/or testify at State Legislature to let legislators know why we need to Ban the Box to give a Fair Chance for all our community members, contact us. We can provide help with testimony and transportation.
