Cascadia Behavioral Healthcare

Cascadia Behavioral Healthcare ( is a major nonprofit provider of behavioral health services in the state of Oregon. Cascadia is a Recovery-oriented, trauma-informed service provider. Cascadia delivers whole health care-integrated mental health and addiction services, primary care, and housing – to support our communities, and provide hope and well-being for those we serve.

This position is located at a residential facility in NE, East County Portland, that serves young adults in transition.

The schedule for this position is overnight Thursday – Monday 11:00pm – 7:30am. The applicant will understand that this position may require early or late days due to programming needs. Compensation : 12.50/hr or 14.58/hr + DOE.

The setting for this position is located at Firefly in NE Portland, a 5-bed Residential Treatment Home (RTH) serving residents aged 17-24. This program is designed to help young adults make the often difficult transition into adult mental health services by providing developmental-age appropriate, person-centered treatment in a setting with peers in the same age-group. Residential Counselors (RCs) will be responsible for offering support and assistance to residents in a variety of ways, such as: rapport building, skills training, conflict management, crisis intervention, medication monitoring and some general cleaning within the home.

The Residential Counselor II works as a member of an interdisciplinary team to implement and monitor treatment for residents within the residential facility. This position involves participation and implementation of program goals and objectives to promote a strengths-based, client centered approach to assisting residents in achieving individual goals and ultimately transitioning to a less restrictive setting.


The Residential Counselor I is entry level and requires a high school diplolma or GED.
The Residential Counselor II position requires a QMHA credential (Qualified Mental Health Associate-Bachelor’s degree in a behavioral health field or 3 years adult mental health experience).

Some work experience working with adults with severe and persistent mental illness is preferred.

Specialized Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: 
Operate Computer hardware and software (Including Electronic Health Record Software) at a level to effectively perform the job functions, including entering and retrieving data.

Work may include the use of company provided transportation in order to transport clients; incumbent must possess a valid driver’s license, three year driving history; clean driving record, ability to pass Driver Motor Vehicle (DMV) check and complete the Cascadia online Defensive Driving course (Overnight shift and Nadine’s is an exception based on program needs).
