The Membership Specialist (Specialist) is part of a twelve-person sales team charged with GSOSW’s membership growth. She or he is responsible for managing volunteer background checks, administering GSOSW’s program for financial assistance for membership dues and girl book and uniforms, and the inventory and distribution of recruitment materials. The Specialist’s work includes providing Salesforce support for membership recruitment initiated by GSOSW volunteers and GSUSA. She or he must be committed to providing stellar customer service as a foundation for activities that are conducted primarily by phone and electronic communication in a supportive office-based team environment.
- Manage GSOSW’s multi-platform volunteer background check process, including decision-making, special reviews, restrictions on volunteer records, liaising with the vendor, secure document storage, and updates and trainings on new processes
- Administer the council’s financial assistance program for girl and adult membership dues and girl book and uniforms, including decision-making, customer communications, tracking, grant reporting, and budget analysis
- Support staff and volunteer-generated recruitment activities, including data entry of event interest lists and fulfillment of requests for membership recruitment materials
- Create an excellent experience for internal and external customers; respond in an appropriate and timely manner to problem-solve inquiries and issues
- Develop expertise in Salesforce expertise related to the work of the membership team, and maintain accurate records of customer interactions to facilitate informed inter-departmental customer service
- Contribute to a team environment as a strong collaborator who is cross-trained to support the membership team and able to work cross-departmentally
The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skills and abilities required.
- Bachelor’s degree or a satisfactory combination of work and educational experience
- Minimum of three (3) years of successful work experience in sales, customer service, marketing, or a related field
- Intermediate level comfort using a PC and the Microsoft Office Suite
- Willingness to accept the principles of the Girl Scout movement as expressed in the Girl Scout Promise and Law
- Access to reliable transportation
- Able to work a flexible schedule, including occasional evenings and weekends, and very occasional overnight trips; travel will constitute less than 5% of work time
- Bicultural skills, bilingual (Spanish) skills, and/or Salesforce experience
- Judgment and maturity to maintain customer confidentiality while administering volunteer background check and financial assistance processes
- Empathy and integrity—and the capacity to convey those qualities over the phone, in email communications, and in day-to-day interactions
- Excellent listening and interpretive skills in order to identify, assess, and respond to internal and external customer needs with a problem-solving mindset
- Resiliency, including a willingness to overcome objections and the capacity adhere to GSOSW standards
- Meticulous attention to detail, organizational and time management skills; the capacity to manage multiple priorities and deadlines with equanimity
- A genuine, trustworthy and inviting demeanor supported by polished written and verbal communication skills

This is a regular full-time, non-exempt position offering a yearly salary of $34,300, depending on experience and is benefits eligible. This position is open until filled.
