Position Summary:
The Assistant Director of Human Resources position supports Home Forward’s strategic and operational objectives in the following way:

The Assistant Director of Human Resources functions as a senior member of the management team and supports Home Forward’s strategic and operational objectives in the following ways: leads, plans, directs, manages, supervises, and oversees the innovative and effective operation of all HR operations and activities. Develops and implements systems to enhance the quality, efficiency, effectiveness, and employee engagement of Home Forward’s employees, based on Home Forward’s strategic goals. Provides strategic guidance and direction. Collaborates with internal business partners to provide leadership in organizational development projects to promote effective systems and practices and develop leadership capacity and succession potential among Home Forward’s employees. Provides expert professional assistance and counsel in areas related to the agency’s leadership and to the Board of Commissioners. In this context, the incumbent will collaborate with others at all levels of the organization and with external stakeholders in areas that profoundly affect Home Forward, its employees, and the people that it serves.

Supervision Received and Exercised
Receives broad policy direction from and reports to the Chief Administrative Officer.

Provides leadership to management, supervisory, professional, and technical staff.

Exercises direct supervision over assigned human resources staff.

Equivalent to a Bachelors degree from an accredited college or university with major coursework in Human Resources, Business, or a related field. Master’s degree preferred in business administration, public administration, or a related field. Ten years experience in a Human Resources related field in an executive position with management, supervisory, and senior professional responsibilities. Public sector experience helpful, but not required. Experience managing and leading in a unionized environment is necessary. Possession of, or ability to obtain, an appropriate, valid driver’s license is required.
