POSITION SUMMARY:
This is a full time position (1.00 FTE) eligible for full health and other benefits.

Metro Finances and Regulatory Services is looking for a person who enjoys working in a collaborative and well integrated Payroll department. The Payroll team consists of three Payroll Specialists, Payroll Analyst (Lead) who report to the Payroll Manager. The department works closely with Human Resources who maintain many of the PeopleSoft HRMS and Kronos Timekeeping tables and databases required for Human Resources and Payroll functions.

The Payroll Specialist position open for recruitment is primarily responsible for bi-weekly payroll procedures, including initiating payroll processes and queries in the agency’s PeopleSoft HRMS, payline and employee data entry as required and printing of advices and checks. The position also is responsible for bi-weekly post payroll processes including the Accounts Payable interface for garnishments, union dues and other payroll related vendor payments. Actual payments are processed by the Accounting Services Division.

The department believes strongly in cross training and this position will provide backup as needed for the other Payroll Specialist with primary responsibility for monitoring daily and Bi-Weekly Kronos timekeeping, initiating uploads of Kronos data and other payroll and post payroll processes.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
Associate’s degree in Accounting, Business, Finance or other related field and four years of payroll experience; or any combination of education and experience which would provide the applicant with the desired knowledge, skills, and ability required to perform the job. Prior payroll experience in an Oregon public sector agency and Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) distinction preferred, but not required.
