Our House of Portland

Assist with day to day operations at Esther’s Pantry and Tod’s Corner. Work directly with clients and supervise volunteers. Esther’s Pantry is a food bank where clients select food from well-stocked shelves that will help support and maintain good health. Esther’s provides supplemental food and personal care items to over 250 clients each month.

Tod’s Corner provides clothing and household items to people living with HIV/AIDS. Additionally, Tod’s Corner helps with basic veterinary care for companion pets, medical equipment, cremations, and other case-by-case needs.

 

Qualifications:

Education, Training, and Experience:

1. High School Diploma or Equivalent.

2. Valid Driver’s License; ability to drive delivery truck

3. Valid personal auto insurance coverage, if applicable

4. Able to lift objects up to 65 pounds

5. Computer literate

6. Good communication and customer service skills

7. Volunteer management experience desirable

Responsibilities:

  • Help maintain records of clients of Tod’s Corner and Esther’s Pantry and the services delivered
  • Assist clients in obtaining items/services requested
  • Assist with receiving donations of goods at Tod’s Corner, and pick up donations from other locations
  • Be present at Tod’s Corner and Esther’s Pantry during hours of operation
  • Supervise volunteers
  • Purchase items for Tod’s Corner/Esther’s Pantry per budgetary guidelines
  • Sort and stock items to keep, and send items elsewhere that we cannot use
  • Help maintain inventory control
  • Field calls and forward information to Our House Staff when the call does not pertain directly to Community Services
  • Assist Community Services Manager with:
  • Food purchase and pick-up at Oregon Food Bank
  • Maintaining OFB inspection standards and USDA Commodities guidelines
  • Monthly reporting
  • Coordination, training and scheduling of the Volunteer Staff
  • Receiving referrals from and communicate with case managers and veterinary providers by e-mail, phone, and fax
  • Provide program coverage in Manager’s absence
