Reed College is seeking an empathetic, creative, and detail-oriented person to be its next Quantitative Skills & Academic Support Coordinator. This position performs two essential functions: offers coaching on quantitative skills to Reed undergraduates, and provides program support to Academic Support Services. As part of the two-person Academic Support Services team, this position reports to the Assistant Dean of Students for Academic Support.
This is a part-time, non exempt, benefits-eligible position working 23 hours per week, 11 months of the calendar year. Weekly hours are spread over four or five days each week (typically mornings with at least one full day) from July through May; however, there is room for flexibility in the schedule. The pay for this position is $20.46/hour.

As a coach, you will design and offer workshops to help students strengthen the foundational quantitative and technological skills necessary to be successful in undergraduate coursework (e.g., algebra, calculus, statistics review/support, using Excel and other data analysis tools). You will also provide one-on-one coaching to students who want to strengthen their skills or improve study strategies in quantitative subjects. In addition, you will teach quantitative skills courses during Reed’s January Academy program.
You will also assist in managing the peer tutoring program. In collaboration with the Assistant Dean, you will hire, orient, and train tutors, provide supervision to student staff, and manage payroll. You will also collect and interpret data for Academic Support Services, and update and maintain the Academic Support website, perform program assessment.
Additionally, you will regularly interact with faculty and staff across the institution while performing departmental functions, developing programs, and supporting our mission of fostering student success.
The successful candidate for this position will have a Bachelor’s degree and at least 2 years of post-college experience. They must demonstrate quantitative skills (e.g., professional experience with quantitative analysis or programming languages), as well as strong written and verbal interpersonal communication skills. They will also be able to demonstrate some experience with managing data-driven tasks and projects, such as report writing, and an ability to use tools such as Excel or Google Sheets in their work.
The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate some experience with one-on-one, personalized coaching or teaching, whether in formal or informal settings.
