As a Senior Fraud Analyst, you are your team will be responsible for developing and maintaining Simple Fraud Operations and the Risk Management program to ensure compliance and adherence with all applicable State and Federal laws and regulations. Our team offers support and guidance to other areas of the Bank (both Simple, and our parent bank, BBVA). We also perform complex analysis of suspicious activity and determine the appropriate action to mitigate risk.
You’re a subject matter expert in the Fraud space with a strong grasp on risk scenarios, responding to inquiries, and providing guidance to other internal departments. You work best in a collaborative environment and enjoy mentoring junior team members.
What You’ll Do All Day:
Monitor and research real-time onboarding applications for new applicants in order to mitigate ID theft, Synthetic ID and prevent fraud.
Monitor and research real-time online banking alerts in various applications to identify compromised credentials and account takeovers leading to fraudulent activity.
Actively communicate with account holders via phone and/or support message (inbound/outbound) to validate documentation, demographic updates and to validate the legitimacy of the online activity and payment transactions, including but not limited to session login activity, bill payments, C2Cs, ACH ODFI and RDFI.
Perform a risk assessment to determine appropriate actions when executing account restrains and closures in accordance with fraud mitigation strategy and bank guidelines.
Action and research fraud intelligence from third party vendors and other sources to mitigate potential loss.
Conduct forensic analysis on confirmed fraud cases to identify data anomalies that could be used in detection rules.
Recommend process improvements to maximize the efficiency of the department.
Support Corporate Investigations to understand fraud threats and help in the development of strategies to prevent fraud.
Assist Corporate Investigations supportive documentation and cyber forensic data for FinCEN SAR reporting.
Collaborate with internal and external departments to resolve customer escalations in a timely manner.
Provide guidance and support to new hires and Junior Analysts as needed.
We’d Like To See:
3+ years of experience in Fraud Operations, Risk Management, AML/BSA Compliance or relevant experience is preferred.
2+ years of experience working with legal or government agencies, law enforcement, banking, MSBs or other in the financial sector is a plus.
1+ years of experience referring unusual activity to Corporate Investigations or Compliance Officer for review is highly desired.
Solid understanding of banking products, onboarding CIP/KYC and payment channels (ACH, BillPay, Cards, etc.).
Possess multi-tasking skills and demonstrates a strong sense of urgency.
Ability to manage with objectivity and patience for any given situation.
A team player – collaborative, reliable and accountable.
Able to adapt and succeed in a changing environment.
Strong spreadsheet skills; basic SQL and programming skills are a plus.
