The Community Engagement Program Coordinator positions are part of a team that provides county wide support for diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI) and community participation strategies to build effective relationships with the community, partner jurisdictions, non-profits, and other County stakeholders. These positions are in the Community Engagement program, which is part of the County Administrative Office and reports directly to the Community Engagement Manager.

These positions are key in assisting with a variety of high-profile community engagement activities that span a range of county wide issues. Specifically, these positions will provide technical assistance, as requested, to County staff from a variety of departments to support their efforts in equitable community engagement; logistics, coordination and training to volunteer leaders within the Community Participation Organization program; and expand partner network to encourage people of color and other historically under-represented groups to participate in decision-making processes that may impact them.

The ideal candidates are knowledgeable and experienced in diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI) strategies; community engagement best practices; and working with diverse communities and volunteers. The candidates will be comfortable providing support and technical assistance for community engagement and DEI strategies to external volunteer community leaders and internal management and program level staff.

Education and Experience:
An Associate’s Degree in cultural studies, communications, education, humanities, political science, sociology; AND
Three (3) years of work experience in volunteer management, community engagement, outreach communications; OR
Five (5) years of experience in volunteer program administration and management, public involvement/facilitation, adult education, outreach communications, non-profit management or administration.
