Social Justice and Civic Leadership Training 2015
“Power concedes nothing without a demand…” -Frederick Douglass
Social Justice & Civic Leadership (SJCL) Training program is organized by the Urban League of Portland to develop leaders and activists who can be successful advocates for social, racial and economic justice, and public policies that affect our community.
The SJCL year-long training will begin with a 3 day retreat, covering community organizing, leadership development, legislative campaigns, messaging and social policy advocacy skills—all through a racial justice lens. Participants will select an organizing project to continue their skill-building throughout 2015. The training is free of charge.
The Social Justice & Civic Leadership Training provides participants with opportunities to advance equity and racial justice and to affirm their commitment to creating lasting change in their community.
This program is in partnership with the City of Portland’s Office of Neighborhood Involvement.
