The Urban League of Portland’s 2014 Career Fair was One of the Largest in Event’s History
On April 22nd, 2014 sixty-four employers gathered at the Double Tree Hotel(by Hilton) for the Urban League of Portland’s 21st annual Career Connections Job Fair, making this year’s Career Fair one of the largest in the event’s history. This annual event gives jobseekers the chance to meet face to face with recruiters from some of the area’s most desirable employers.
Urban League Career Fair attendees had the opportunity to meet recruiters from: Cambia Health Solutions, Washington County, United Way, Metro, Tri-Met, Oregon Trades Women, Precision Castparts Corp, and many more local employers who work with the Urban League of Portland year round to connect with qualified diverse candidates. Over six hundred people attended this year’s Career Fair, some attendees were interviewed on site; others made arrangements to be interviewed at a later date.
Commenting on the support that the Urban League of Portland received from the community, Debra Lindsay, Director of Workforce Development at the Urban League of Portland said “We owe the success of this year’s Career Fair to the support of our staff, community partners, and dedicated force of volunteers; we deeply appreciate the support we have received from the community”.
