The Urban League of Portland, in partnership, with Summer Works – a Worksystems Program, invites Young Adults ages 16 – 21 years of age to apply for a Paid Work Experience Job Placement opportunity!
Summer Works Goal: Youth to learn & apply work-place skills, earn money and develop good work habits.
Online Application Period: Opens March, 2015 to April 20th, 2015
The Urban League of Portland has a limited number of Job Placement slots through Summer Works. Preference will be given to youth that have participated in previous years of the Urban League of Portland Youth Employment Summer Program. However, All youth are encouraged to apply. *Youth not selected for the Summer Works Job Slots will still be considered for the Urban League of Portland Youth Employment Summer Program.*
To qualify as an Urban League of Portland Referral, youth can apply directly online through Worksystems & enter the Urban League of Portland as the Referring Agency OR Apply directly at the Urban League.

Paid Training & Job Placement Details:
Paid Work Readiness Training: 12-15 Hours
Training’s start May 11th, 2015 and will continue through the end of June, 2015.
Employment Period: 180 Hours
Employment starts June 1st through August 16th, 2015 (some jobs will last until September, 2015)

* Crew Outdoor Maintenance Trade Work * Community Outreach * TriMet
* Age 16 – 21 (must be 16 by June 1st, 2015)
* Diverse – representative of community demographics.
* Low income.
* At-risk of disconnecting from high school.
* Behind in school credits.
* First generation college students.
* Lack of support/resources for finding own job.
* Legal to Work in the U.S.
