The Urban League of Portland of Portland’s State of Black Oregon 2015 is the result of a two-year program of research and represents the most comprehensive picture of Black Oregon. The State of Black Oregon is owned by, written by and for our community. The data in the report is brought to life with a powerful collection of personal stories and photos, and the most in-depth and personal chronicling of Black Oregonians to date. More than 20 case studies and “Oregon Snapshots” highlight the challenges and experiences of a diverse range of Oregonians, from the owner of the only Black-owned business in Pendleton to a 74-year-old housing activist studying to become a paralegal at Portland Community College.
