The Urban League of Portland‘s Racial and Health Equity Promotion program is proud to have worked to publish The Racial Equity Strategy Guide.
 RACIAL EQUITY STRATEGY GUIDE

The RACIAL EQUITY STRATEGY GUIDE is available for DOWNLOAD

The Racial Equity Strategy Guide is offered to City of Portland bureaus and staff as an initial overview of how to begin implementing a racial equity strategy. Created in collaboration with the Office of Equity and Human Rights, this document can assist bureaus in developing a racial equity framework and process.

The Urban League of Portland Racial and Health Equity Promotion program is involved in several cross-cultural community partnerships and coalitions that focus on how Oregon citizens and policymakers may best understand and practice equity. Through our work with these partnerships and coalitions, we are able to promote health equity and address long-standing racial disparities in health.

Partnership for Racial Equity
Formed in January 2011, the Partnership for Racial Equity, is a working group of city staff and community partners, including organizations of color, health advocates, and academics. This partnership tackles such issues as what equity means in day to day practice, and how to develop an equity lens and strategy.  We promote the use of important resources, such Equity Toolkits, and modern examples of local and national model equity work.

OHEA is comprised of Asian Pacific American Network of Oregon, Oregon Latino Health Coalition, Oregon Action, Center for Intercultural Organizing, Causa Oregon, and the Urban League of Portland. This coalition builds on the success and lessons learned from the People of Color Health Equity Collaborative (POCHEC). In 2009, Oregon Action and multiple collaborators envisioned and organized POCHEC, that established a 20 member collaboration of organizations of color. The collaborative formalized key cross-sector partnerships and provided critical leadership that has increased capacity and alignment on policy change. It also created a cohesive statewide structure to coordinate advocacy efforts based on values. Today, Urban League of Portland is proud to be part of OHEA and the new generation of collaborative policy-shapers.
