We are excited to invite you to our 1st Urban League for All of Us Community Conversation of 2024 on March 22nd 6-7:30 pm in Gresham at Mt Hood Community College. We would like to thank our partners at Mt Hood Community College for hosting us at their campus and our event sponsors, Habitat for Humanity Portland Region, Sightline Institute, and HereTogether. The Urban League of Portland’s Vice President, Julia Delgado will be the host, and Associate Director of Emergency Services, Kimberly Bacon will be the moderator. We will be joined by the following panelists, Proud Ground Executive Director, Dominique Merriweather, Department of Land Conservation and Development Senior Housing Planner, Mari Valencia Aguilar, and Northwest Housing Alternatives Executive Director, Trell Anderson. The theme for the Community Conversation is Addressing Housing Affordability Through Oregon’s Housing Production Strategies. We will be looking at how past land use, zoning, and planning have led us to a lack of affordable housing options and the impacts this has had on community. We will discuss what mechanisms we put in place now, to have equitable housing development that reflects our values for the future. We plan to shed light on the housing challenges faced by the Gresham/Portland community, explore strategies, and spark meaningful discussions to drive change. This will be an opportunity to hear from her and other movement members of the community in the Gresham area. We will also be honoring community champions who are doing dynamic work to advance the movement forward.
